IRCTC is offering free food to passengers of Indian Railways if the train gets late more than 2 hours due to fog. In winters most of the trains especially in North India get late due to fog.
Also, lot of people travel due to holidays which cause too much inconvenience when train gets late. Most of the hosteler students go their homes in winter vacations.
So IRCTC, a subsidiary of Railway Of India has decided to provide food to the reserved passengers free of cost.
This free catering service is being provided on trains only during the journey and the facility is not extended at platforms, a senior IRCTC official said.
An IRCTC official said that passengers will be served tea/coffee, lunch/dinner or breakfast/evening tea, depending on the timings.
We appreciate the step taken by IRCTC and hope better services in future too. Also better services in booking of train tickets and quality of catering.
