Train/Coach Booking FTR (Full Tariff Rate) on IRCTC
FTR a new service started by IRCTC now let people to book coaches or even whole train. If you have decided to go for a tour with large group of people then this service can be useful for you. Mostly, it is helpful for marriages in which “Barats” has to cover a long distance and railway is best possible way.
Whatever is your reason if you want a whole coach or train this is the best way to get it booked. FTR coach or train booking can be done maximum 6 months in advance and minimum 30 days prior to the date of journey.
Currently, the full tariff rate is a start up project and works only for trains running under Western Railway Zone. Indian Railway is planning to implement this service to all the zones soon as per the results received.
The registration for this service can be done with both online on IRCTC as well as offline on UTS (Unreserved Ticket Service) counter. You can book either coaches or trains. For coach booking you can book maximum 10 numbers of coaches and amount for booking of a coach up to 7 days of tour journey period is Rs. 50,000/- per coach. After 7 days of tour journey period, an additional Rs.10,000/- per day/per coach will be charged and added in registration amount.
In case of train booking, a you can book maximum 24 coaches in FTR train including 2 Sleeper. Two Sleeper coaches are mandatory. The amount for booking of a train is minimum of 18 coaches (including minimum two SLR coaches) and up to 7 days of tour journey period is Rs. 900,000/-. Beyond 18 passenger coaches, additional Rs.50,000/- per coach will be added in the registration amount. For tour period beyond 7 days, additional Rs.10,000/- per day per coach will be added in registration amount.
Even for booking of a train with less than 18 coaches, the registration amount for 18 coaches as minimum will be charged.
The above amount may change in case of any revision by Ministry of Railways from time to time.
How to Register on IRCTC FTR Service
Your normal IRCTC ID is not applicable on this service, you have to register separately with this service in order to get benefit of booking FTR trains. You have to do the new registration by following the steps below. PAN Card Number is must for getting your registration done.
Step-1. Go to ‘www.ftr.irctc.co.in’, which is the IRCTC FTR administration page. Click on “register” button to begin the registration process.
Step-2. You will be taken to ftr client registration page where you enter your personal details. Begin with picking an accessible username which ought to be somewhere around 3 and 10 characters long with no spaces. Fill in all the compulsory fields like Email ID, Cardholder’s first name, PAN card number, last name, location, pin code, city, state, nation, mobile/cell number. After that two important fields – party type, and party sub type. In party type choose ‘public’, and in party subtype choose one of India tourist, foreign tourist, or general, whichever is appropriate/ applicable to you. Click on ‘register’ again.

For offline booking the user has to go to CBS (Chief Booking Supervisor)/Station Master (SM) of excursion initiating station and give composed appeal containing trip details for FTR booking. FTR Booking cancellation/ refund
In case of cancellation, either by party or by railway, refund will be processed as per existing manual process through Chief Commercial Manager (PM). The cancellation and refund will be done manually, as of now, even if the service is availed online (either offline or online you have to do cancellation by going to the office).
Can we book coach for one way journey??
how can i get money back paid as ftr registration fee as railway has refused to book the coach due to no room.
If you booked online you can contact the customer care with all the details specially with the transaction ID and ask them to refund the money.
are there any coach waiting charges ?
